sympathy card
I made this card for the family of my dear friend Bev who passed away today. RIP Bev, I'll miss you.
SOS challenge 27
This weeks SOS challenge is to make a Christmas card, this past weekend I made about 20, but I'm just going to post this one as it is a different medium for me. It is working with metal, I put it through my big shot with an embossing folder, then sanded the metal, added a little bling and curled the edges to make it look older.

SOS challenge
well I'm going to enter this card in the SOS challenge for using a new stamp and neutral colors. For this card I used a stamp I purchased last year and have not had the opportunity to use until now, and black and white is pretty neutral or actually non color....this is also a new technique for me. My daughter told me about it today and I had to give it a try. I probably could have used a better stamp but it is what it is...

SOS challenge
This weeks' SOS challenge is to use a stamp that's never been inked before and/or use neutral colors. My sister's bday is coming up and I purchased paper a while ago with her bday in mind. then my daughter also bought me a stamp set that went with the paper, it had bird cages and birds, so I got to use part of the stamp set. This was the first time I used it and I used it on the front of the card and on the inside. the front has white birds at the bottom. I embossed the birds on the card, they don't show up well in the photo but they are there, then I stamped on the inside of the card. thanks for looking

SOS challenge #21
This weeks challenge at SOS is to use anything spooky in your stash or use orange and black. well I used my black magic paper with the orange core. I used the Tim Holtz embossing folder (turned the wrong way) and some spiders I had cut out on my cricut several years ago (I have a bag full) and came up with this card. I love the colored core paper and was glad I had the opportunity to use it again. sorry for the messy background.

sos challenge # 20
this weeks SOS challenge is to make a Thanksgiving card or a thankyou card. Well I had to make a thankyou card for a male friend, I find making masculine cards very difficult, but I've used this bamboo embossing folder several times to make masculine cards and I think they turn out okay. for this one I used black paper with green core. I embossed and sanded the paper. I cut out a circle and colored the white card stock behind it to make it look like a full moon. I then colored a piece of whitecardstock to match and stamped it with the thanks, then used my nestabilities to cut out the tags. I also got to use my new dew drops. they don't show up too well in the picture, but they are there. thanks for looking.

SOS # 19
This weeks SOS challenge is to use Black and White and one other color. so I have two cards I wanted to share. the first one has a red background that I stamped with white snowflakes, it's hard to see in the picture. I used my sookwang tape and stuck it on a piece of white cardstock, cut out the design using my nestabilities, then covered it with glitter ritz, then stamped on the snowman, backed it with a piece of black cardstock using the same nestabilitie one size larger. then I did the same thing and used my nestabilitie snowflakes. I'm not crazy about the snowflakes. need to play around with them a little more.
The second card is a similar method, but this one I stamped on the cardstock, covered it with the tape, then used the glass sugar beads. This card is Black, white and silver. I love this stamp (from Michaels) when it works right, I find it only stamps good if I use stayz on ink, but whatever works...My first couple of Christmas cards, still can't get in the mood to do them, even though the wind is blowing today, it is still too nice to think about Christmas. Thanks for looking.

sos challenge # 18
this weeks SOS challenge is anything but coloring so I made this card. I made the flowers from a video I saw on youtube, unfortunately there was no name on the video so I cannot give credit. I used the vintage paper I had left over from a previous card, and sanded it, then used my nestabilities to make the circles, I used Tim Holtz distress ink to ink the edges.

SOS challenge #17
This weeks challenge at SOS is "vintage or shabby elements and/or distress your project". Well it just so happens that a few of my vintage friends and myself are turning the big 60 this year. This past week we celebrated my friend Linda's passing of the milestone. As part of that celebration I made this birthday card for her. I used a vintage paper that I sanded and inked with Tim Holtz distress ink. the girl is one of a group of 8 on a page I purchased in Stonewall (along with the cameo button). The ribbon is an old piece I had in my stash, it has pearls on it, that aren't too visible in this picture. the ribbon and the background paper are antique white. I got to use my newly purchased nestability for the Happy Birthday message which is also inked with the TH distress ink. Thanks for looking.

sos challenge #16
I decided to try making a step card today, I have a couple of birthdays coming up and wanted to do something new so I made this one for my daughter who's bday is next week and it happened to be in the birds theme so I thought I would enter it in the SOS challenge Beasts, Bugs, Birds.

SOS challenge
I made this card for a dear lady I have never even met. She is a friend of my sister's and she made her a beautiful afhgan. That was not enough, she decided to make all Ev's sisters an afghan. So when I got home from my trip, I was the lucky recipient of a brand new sage green afhgan, what a surprise. so I whipped up this thankyou card, then discovered that the SOS challange is beasts, bugs, birds this week so I am entering this in their challenge. I used my birds and swirls embossing folder and Tim Holtz paper that I sanded, a bird punch and a bird house stamp (this one I just got) thanks for looking.

Challenge 9 - shopping our stash - technique turnback
This is my project for the technique turn back at shopping our stash. This card is done with the napkin folding technique. I found the tutorial on split coast stampers. I also did some distressing and edged it all with my Martha Stewart punch...Thanks for looking

shopping our stash #6
Okay, this is a total recycle and I think it definitely meets the criteria for SOS for this weeks challenge.
When I retired (5 years ago) my daughter decorated this paint can and filled it with retirement survival gear. I loved the way she did it and hung onto it for 5 years. well my sister turned 65 this year and our tradition is that all the siblings contribute $65 to the pot of gold ( I have 6 siblings). We were all getting together to celebrate and my other sister was bringing the pot of gold for us to fill. Well with the Air Canada strike and the mail strike, she was limited in what she could bring and the pot of gold got left behind. Well my sister is a big fan of Farrow and Ball Paint, so I thought I would recycle the paint can and we would use that, so I went online and checked what their paint cans looked like. I used the original paper that my daughter used, but some pieces were worn and had to be replaced, so I was quite surprised that I could dig into my stash and come up with some things that were very similar. all the flowers are original as are the ribbons on the handles. the rest I copied from the Farrow and Ball site, and I made up the name (they have odd names for their paint colours)This was good because it incorporated the gold and appropriate cause my sister had just been on Citi Line and her question was about painting the front door. anyway to make a very long story almost short, this tin has been completely recycled and the recipient (my sister) just loved it.

well I finally got a chance to finish my card and then I could not find the plug to download pix from my camera. aghhhhh. luckily I had a card reader so I could do it that way. I don't know what goblins took my plug, but I'm sure it will turn up....
I made this card for my Grand daughters 3rd bday. I think it meets all the criteria for the SOS challenge for this week. I purchased the paper about 6 months ago specifically for the colors, I was making a quilt card for my sister for her bday. I only used the edges around this paper, so I had a rather large piece left over and it had the bird pattern on it, so I thought I may as well use it up. while digging for some bling to put on it I came across the little bird clothes hangers. I don't know how long I've had them for and quite frankly I'm not sure why I bought them, anyway I thought I would make some tags, (from scraps of course) and let the birds hold the tags. It's a simple card, but I got to use up some products I've had sitting around. thanks for looking.
